The mic’s steel body and internal humbucking coil reduce the risk of electronic interference. The PR-35 element is shock-mounted in Sorbothane© to decouple the element from the microphone body. ![]() The microphone has around -40 dB of rear rejection and gave John lots of headroom before feedback. John Shumacher, the monitor engineer on that series of summer tours took me by the arm at a sound check one day and said - watch this, as he cupped his hands around the PR 35… no feedback. The design of these dynamic elements provides better rejection of off-axis sound and wider dynamic range. The diaphragm is exceptionally large, providing a sound more commonly associated with ribbon mics. *Īs in the other Heil PR mics, the magnet of the dynamic element in the PR-35 is constructed of a proprietary mix of neodymium, iron, and boron. The mic was built at the request of Jason Raboin (FOH engineer for Joan Boez, a PR 30 customer), who asked for a handheld model of the PR 30. Heil intends the microphone for handheld vocal use, including broadcast and amateur radio, in addition to live sound reinforcement. Heil Sound PR-35 Cardioid Dynamic Microphoneĭesigned to provide a flat response over a wide frequency range, the Heil PR 35 is built around the 1.5'' dynamic element of the PR-30, in a different form factor and with the incorporation of a 3-position low-end roll-off switch. ![]()
